Insert the opening instrument into the hole located on the top of the clip.  Holding the opening instrument between your thumb and forefinger, make a small rotation of the instrument by rolling between your fingers.  The self-ligating clip is designed to work like a spring, very little force is needed to open and close.

Straight wire appliances make it imperative that the brackets be positioned with accuracy in order to fully exploit the interaction of their written prescription.
